Global remote delivery

Anushka Dahanayake (Pvt) Ltd (PV 00303673) is a registered Sri Lanka company delivering this service remotely to clients in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and Europe. All projects are scoped in English with transparent USD pricing and email-first delivery.

Service Overview

Website Accessibility Audit & Remediation tests an agreed sample of templates and user journeys against WCAG 2.2 Level AA, combining automated scanning with manual keyboard, focus, zoom, colour-contrast, and screen-reader testing. Findings are prioritised by user impact and effort, with the affected success criterion, location, and recommended fix. Where scoped, we fix issues in WordPress, WooCommerce, or Shopify themes, forms, navigation, media, and checkout templates the platform allows us to edit, then retest. We also draft an accessibility statement for the client to review and approve. The European Accessibility Act has applied since 28 June 2025 to many e-commerce and other consumer services offered in the EU, with national rules and exemptions such as microenterprises. In the US, ADA Title III complaints and lawsuits about business websites are common, and WCAG is the usual reference. This service is technical work, not legal advice or a compliance certification; it cannot guarantee protection from complaints or lawsuits. Overlay widgets are not used as a substitute for fixing code.

Our Delivery Process

1

Agree scope and sample

Select representative templates and key journeys such as home, category, product, cart, checkout, contact, and account pages; confirm conformance target, browsers, assistive technologies, and platform access.

2

Test

Run automated scans, then manually test keyboard operation, focus visibility and order, zoom and reflow, contrast, forms and errors, media alternatives, and screen-reader output on the sample.

3

Report and prioritise

Deliver findings mapped to WCAG 2.2 success criteria with severity, location, and fix guidance, and agree which issues will be remediated and which the client's team or vendors own.

4

Remediate

Fix agreed issues in theme, template, form, and checkout code on staging where available, noting items blocked by platform-controlled or third-party components.

5

Retest and document

Retest fixed issues, record remaining exceptions, and hand over a draft accessibility statement and guidance for keeping new content accessible.

Platform Architecture

Engineered for premium performance, core security, and organic search rankings from day one.

StandardWCAG 2.2 Level AA as the testing reference; EN 301 549, which the EAA relies on, currently references WCAG 2.1 AA for web content
Automated testingaxe-based tooling, Lighthouse, and WAVE as a first pass; automated tools detect only part of WCAG issues, so manual testing is required
Manual testingKeyboard-only navigation, focus, zoom to 400% and reflow, contrast, forms, and screen-reader checks with NVDA or VoiceOver on agreed browsers
PlatformsWordPress and WooCommerce themes and plugins, Shopify themes, and custom front ends; platform-hosted checkout or third-party widgets may limit what can be changed
Legal contextEuropean Accessibility Act applicable from 28 June 2025 under national laws; US ADA Title III risk. Neither is assessed legally by this service
OverlaysAccessibility overlay or toolbar widgets are not installed as a substitute for fixing the underlying code
Client responsibilitiesAccess, staging where possible, approval of fixes, accessible new content, third-party vendor fixes, statement approval, and legal advice
ExclusionsLegal advice, compliance certification, full-site testing beyond the sample, PDF and document remediation, video captioning, and user testing with disabled participants unless scoped

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions regarding deliverables, process, and billing.

Will this make my website legally compliant?

โ–ผ

We cannot certify legal compliance. We test and fix the agreed templates against WCAG 2.2 AA, which is the usual technical reference, but compliance depends on the whole site, content added later, third-party components, and how laws are applied. Please take legal advice for legal questions.

Does the European Accessibility Act apply to my business?

โ–ผ

The EAA has applied since 28 June 2025 through national laws in EU member states and covers many consumer services, including e-commerce, offered to people in the EU. Microenterprises providing services are exempt, and other exceptions exist. Whether it applies to you is a legal question for your adviser.

What about the ADA in the United States?

โ–ผ

ADA Title III covers businesses open to the public, and US courts and the Department of Justice have treated websites as within its reach. Many demand letters and lawsuits cite WCAG failures. Fixing real barriers reduces risk but cannot guarantee you will not receive a complaint or lawsuit.

Why WCAG 2.2 and not 2.1?

โ–ผ

WCAG 2.2 is the current W3C recommendation and includes all of WCAG 2.1 except one removed criterion, plus new criteria on focus, dragging, target size, and authentication. Testing to 2.2 AA also covers the 2.1 AA level that EN 301 549 currently references.

Can't we just install an accessibility overlay?

โ–ผ

We do not use overlays as a substitute for fixes. Overlays do not change the underlying code that assistive technology users rely on, and they have been named in lawsuits. We fix the code directly.

Is the whole website tested?

โ–ผ

No. We test an agreed sample of representative templates and key journeys. Fixes to shared templates often improve many pages, but content-level issues on untested pages, such as missing image text or poorly structured documents, remain the client's to review.

Can you fix the Shopify or WooCommerce checkout?

โ–ผ

We fix what the platform lets us edit. Shopify checkout customisation is limited by plan and platform rules, and some WooCommerce payment fields are rendered by third-party gateways. Issues we cannot change are documented for you to raise with the vendor.

Is automated testing enough?

โ–ผ

No. Automated tools find only a portion of WCAG issues and produce false positives. Keyboard, screen-reader, zoom, and form testing by a person is needed to find barriers such as unusable menus, unclear error messages, or inaccessible custom widgets.

What goes in the accessibility statement?

โ–ผ

We draft a statement describing the standard tested, the scope, known limitations, and a contact route for reporting barriers. You review, adjust, and approve it, and your legal adviser should check it against any legal requirements before publication.

How do we stay accessible after remediation?

โ–ผ

The handover includes guidance for editors on headings, links, images, forms, and colour. New templates, plugins, apps, and content can introduce new issues, so periodic retesting is recommended and can be scoped separately.
